EWS item properties
A lot of properties in Exchange are read-only and we will not go into theses here. If they are important in the context of specific operations (yes some are) I will mention this at the appropriate time in this manual, als you can find them in the complete list of Exchange fields in the appendix.
Instead, here we focus on the concepts of the writeable fields.
Normal fields
Fortunately most fields are pretty straightforward and accept either a text, numeric or boolean value, all represented as text.
Indexed fields
Indexed fields are fields that have multiple content where each entry is identified by a key.
for example you have multiple phone numbers with different keys like ‘business’, ‘mobile’, ‘home’ etc.
These fields are more complicated to handle and are described here
Complex fields
some fields are made up of complex XML objects, such as the list of meeting attendees, the recipients of messages, etc.
These need to be handled in a special way described here:
Complex, indexed fields
to make things a bit more interesting, there are also indexed complex fields, where each indexed entry has subfields. This currently only applies to the physical addresses of contacts.
